The Polaroid is a short first person visual puzzle game where the goal is to match a polaroid photo with the scene and then take a picture. This game was made for the 36th Ludum Dare game jam in 72 hours where the theme was “Ancient Technology.” This game was primarily inspired by games like “Gone Home” and “Life is Strange,” where the main character explores a silent house as they slowly piece together where they are. The ambiance and world was also inspired by television shows like “The Lost Room” and “Stranger Things” where supernatural events such as objects appearing as you complete each puzzle happen.
Overall, this was a fun experience with my team consisting of myself, Kenneth Ng, Conrad Fay, Michael Lee, and Spencer Lee for Ludum Dare 36 that we took as a “vacation” away from working on Mind the Trap and to refresh everyone’s creativity.
As of now, this project is complete, and is also our most popular game available on itch.io. For now, we have no plans in continuing this game, but may show interest sometime in the future.
