A Defender of the Gospel — Acts
16th MARCH, 2021

By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith. [Hebrews 11:7 NIV]
We have learnt that keeping our faith in God and in His Word, during trying times, gives a good defence of the truth of the Gospel. However, it is worthy to note that all the people mentioned in the Hall of Faith, not only believed, but put actions to their faith.
Our believe in God, must reflect in our every thought and action. This is the only way through which we can be transformed into the image of Christ. The transformed life we live then serves as evidence of the redemptive power of the Gospel.
In James 2:19–20, we are told “You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that — and shudder. You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless?” This is quite a clear and concise message, that we need to work out our faith.
Noah put action to his faith. Yes, he heard from God, and he believed in the word he heard. However, he didn’t stop there, he went ahead and carried out the task set before him. Too often, we hear instructions from God, or the Holy Spirit or read them in the Bible. Yet, while we proclaim our faith in these things, we don’t necessarily heed to them.
Living out the Gospel you preach, is the best defence you can provide to show the liberating truth of the Gospel. It is not an easy feat. But what may seem impossible with man is more than possible with God. So, lean on Him, believe and act out your faith.
Thank You Jesus, for being the author and finisher of my faith. Please help me to not only believe in Your words but to also act on them with the needed conviction of the heart. Amen.
