A Life of Gratitude
29th AUGUST 2020
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; [Ephesians 5:20 KJV].
Someone once asked, “What if you woke up today with only the things you appreciated God for yesterday?”
People are a channel through which we receive the blessings of God. We are where we are today because of the impact of the different relationships we have had and the different people God has sent into our lives to be blessings to us. People are gifts from God, and we must learn to receive them and appreciate them. We must learn to appreciate people who have been blessings and continue to be blessings to us.
We must learn to always show our gratitude to people who have been blessings in our lives. For example, our parents have sacrificed a lot for us and continue to do so much for us hence, we must keep thanking them for all they have contributed to making us who we are today. On countless occasions, our parents have had to forgo their comfort to make us comfortable and have the best in life. We must learn to also appreciate our siblings and all our family members who have been there for us in various ways.
It is easy to take for granted the great things our family members and those close to us have done for us but may that not be said of us.
Some people came along the line to also shepherd us and help us in our walk with the Lord. Some sowed seeds many years back and those seeds have led us where we are now. Do you remember your Sunday school teacher and your class teacher who always told you about the love of Christ? If possible, call them and appreciate their contributions in your life. Also, say “thank you” to those who are currently leading you to become a great follower of Christ. Thank them for praying with you and also sharing the Word of God with you.
Finally, continually say thank you to people who do things for you each day. Let’s not overlook the kind gestures of people each day. Say thank you to the person who opens the door for you. Say thank you to the security man who directed you to park your car at the car park. Say thank you when you buy an item and it’s handed over to you. Say thank you when people go out of their way to do things for you. Let’s learn to appreciate people while they are alive and not when they are dead and gone.
Heavenly Father, I am grateful for everything You’ve done for me. Help me to always remember to show my gratitude towards those who help me, and may I never forget to count my blessings. Amen.
