Agree and Pray
20th JUNE, 2021
“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” [Matthew 18:19-20 NKJV]
One lie the devil constantly pushes is the idea that we do not need to be in fellowship with other believers. After all, the Christian walk is personal. However, we need to understand that it is a strategy to separate us and make us more vulnerable, for he knows the importance of fellowshipping with others.
Meeting with fellow believers frequently makes us accountable to each other, and offers us the opportunity to minister to one another. We are able to genuinely care for each other as was commanded in the Bible when we stay in fellowship.
It is for this same reason that we are encouraged in Hebrews 10:25 to “not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” Paul admonishes believers not to neglect fellowship and concurrently reminds them of one of the benefits of fellowship; exhorting each other.
Our God honours obedient hearts that uphold His word and will. Therefore, when we come into agreement in prayer and lift our requests as a community, God honours them. He acknowledges our commitment to come together in His name and He honours it by making His presence known.
No matter the boundaries that may try to come between a believer and communal fellowship, they should overcome it. The benefits of fellowship far outweigh any physical limitations or disagreements that may arise when it comes to doing life with people.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the community of believers in my life. Help me to stay in fellowship with other believers and take away anything that will bring discord and destroy our unity.
