Have you ever wondered how you can live at peace with all men? Just consider the temperaments of people, their socialisation and orientations from childhood, the experiences they have gone through in life and their likes and dislikes — how are you going to manage to be at peace with men? Guess what; this idea of living at peace with all men is God’s will for us, yet, He makes it an option. If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone Romans 12:18. It is almost like He is saying this is what I want you to do, if you will do it, then you will ask me how can I get it done?

Although our main verses for today are not directly linked to Romans 12:18, one can see how that is an answer for the one who would ask God, how can I live at peace with all men? If you have to focus on over 8 billion souls and stay at peace with all, the mere desire to focus on all will lead to confusion and peace with them would be lost. The way to do this will be to have a single focus on the one who has authority over all of them.

When God is your focus, and you do all things for His glory, assuming you have learned what that means, you do not have to worry about the people around you individually. People are made by God, therefore, His instructions on how He wants you to relate to people — which your obedience in so doing glorifies Him — ultimately, is how people need to be related to. Granted, some people will not be happy with how you relate with them according to God’s instructions because of their ignorance of what is right for them.

Having to keep finding ways to please the ignorance of the person ceases to become your problem and burden to solve. Once you are pleasing and glorifying the one who has authority over the person, there will surely be a moment where the authority will speak and silence the ignorance of that person. Look at the words again, “if you do anything, do it all for the glory of God” and “never do anything that might hurt others.”

Anytime you set out to do anything for God’s glory, you are doing it for His praise.

Don't take praising God for granted. It helps you to stay at peace with all men, those who agree with you and those who disagree with you alike.

Heavenly Father, teach me to praise You in everything I do, that I may be at peace with all men, knowing I have done as You require of me. Fill my heart with Your love, and in all things may exercise the mind of Christ in me, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
