“I have other sheep, too, that are not in this sheepfold. I must bring them also. They will listen to my voice, and there will be one flock with one shepherd.” [John 10:16 NLT]

God desires that all men are saved (1 Timothy 2:4). Unfortunately, many have not heard of the saving grace of the Lord Jesus, others have strayed away from the faith, yet others have heard and not made a decision to follow Him. Despite these challenges, Christ hasn’t given up on the sheep yet to come into His fold and has called each of us to have a part to play in bringing them into the fold.

Regardless of the large number of people in our churches and Christian programs, we must not be satisfied or relaxed in our pursuit of others. We need to “wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe for harvest.” (John 4:35b). There are still others in our schools, neighbourhoods, and families who need to hear the gospel.

We must be aware of our adversary, whose motive is to steal many out of the flock, kill their desire to be with the Lord, and ultimately destroy their lives. When isolated from the fold, the sheep is left more vulnerable, making it more susceptible to the enemy’s attacks. Thus, we can appreciate why Jesus would leave the ninety-nine for the sake of the straying one (Matthew 18:12).

In Matthew 9:36–38, Jesus was moved with compassion for the people who were confused and helpless because they had no shepherd. They were weary and helpless because they had not heard Jesus’ voice, which guarantees peace and hope. Jesus went on to recommend prayer as the solution to this plight. We must be people of prayer if we are going to win others into the Kingdom of God. Where is the John Hyde in our day who will pray, “Give me the nations, or I die,” or passionate believers who will cry out, “Lord, please help me get one more”?

We must be intentional about bringing others into the sheep’s fold.

We must make time to pray for, preach the Word to, and disciple others. The world is going to be a much better place when more people are brought into the Kingdom of God.

Then, we will all be able to be united towards the purpose of bringing glory to the worthy King.

Heavenly Father, grant me the desire to see others come into Your Kingdom. Give me the grace to play my role in bringing Your sheep into the fold. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
