COLTS AND CORDS

Remember the colt that Jesus entered Jerusalem riding on? Here’s something new God taught me today about Jesus’ colt from Luke 19:

  1. It was tied up (no one likes to be tied up and restricted)
  2. It had never been ridden.(Suggestive of youthfulness, immaturity and inexperience)

Well I’m not sure what plans the colt’s original owners had for it. However, we do know that as at the time that colt was tied up and restricted, (quarantined if you will 😄) with no apparent raison d’être, Jesus saw purpose and freed it up to be used in His service and to bring Him glory. He has eternally made it his business to release us from every evil cord that holds us bound so that He can use us for His good purposes.

“If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it.’ ”
Luke‬ ‭19:31‬ ‭NIV‬‬

What if we lived more conscious of every victory, every breakthrough, every storm that He brings us through?

Would we see them as God strategically positioning us to fulfill a greater purpose, to bring Him glory?

Consider our own salvation; were we not bound up headed for eternal darkness when He rescued us into His resplendent light? So that we could keep the light to ourselves?! Nope. So that we can go light our neighbour’s candle and gather throngs of people to come to this LIT party… literally!

I think of Esther, and God definitely made a way for her in the palace, not merely because she was beautiful. God needed to save His people!

What about Joseph, Nehemiah, David??

Just like that colt, in our eyes and that of others we may seem callow and jejune — unfit for the Master’s service. He is always ready to have the cords undone. Question is: Are you willing?
