Digging for Understanding
23rd MAY 2022

Whoever leaves the path of wisdom will be on their way to an early death. Proverbs 21:16 ERV
Understanding means to have insight, to be prudent, comprehend, or act circumspectly. The Bible warns us not to stray from understanding. Leaders are people who understand others. A leader who lacks understanding is an ineffective leader.
We cannot effectively lead when we lack the necessary understanding. A leader cannot be a blessing to his followers or fulfil the ministry on his life if he lacks understanding.
Books are one way that we can gain understanding. Daniel stated in Daniel 9:2 that he had an understanding through books. Daniel was able to predict what the Lord would do by reading books. He gained knowledge by reading books.
We must cultivate a reading culture if we are to have an impact on our societies and the world at large.
If you want to be great, you should start reading right now. You must keep your knowledge of effective leadership up to date on a daily basis. Every time you pick up a book to read, you are making room in your life for understanding. When you have the knowledge, you become a better leader. Nobody wants to follow a leader who is befuddled and inept.
Several authors have gone before you in life and written numerous books about the mistakes they made and the lessons they learned from them. You are not the first person to take the path you are taking. If you spend some time reading, you will be able to avoid some mistakes and seize some fantastic opportunities.
Reading will always put you ahead of those who do not.
Make it a point to read a good book every day, starting today. If you are too busy to read, you will be too busy to gain knowledge and understanding.
Give me the grace, Heavenly Father, to be an avid reader in search of knowledge in order to effectively lead those You have given me as followers.
