“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” [Acts 1: 8 NIV]

We have been called to be witnesses of the gospel of Christ Jesus. To be a witness, one must see an event take place and be able to give an account of it. As believers, we did not see Jesus and the events of His life take place, so how then do we qualify to be witnesses? The answer to this is very simple.

We have the Holy Spirit; who was present through it all, living in us, and therefore He tells us what to say.

Witnessing to others is not something we do on our own. The Holy Spirit gives us the power to witness to the world. He does this by showcasing Christ through our lives. The power that we receive affirms the life of Christ (as we read from the scriptures) in our own lives. That is why we qualify to be witnesses to the uttermost parts of the world.

It may seem like a challenge getting to the uttermost parts of the world, but what we need is the empowerment of the Holy Spirit in order to get there. We may be limited as human beings, but we must remember that we serve a God that is limitless in all His ways. All our weaknesses are taken care of because we have Him on the inside of us.

Witnessing to others is not meant to be an occasional activity, but rather, our lives must serve as a daily witness for all who encounter us. In this day and age, there are a variety of ways to reach the ends of the earth with the Gospel of Christ. Therefore, we need to make use of every opportunity and every medium available to us, to propagate the Gospel.

Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your Holy Spirit to come and live in me. Help me to live my life as a witness of Your gospel. Amen.
