Faith Comes by Hearing

“How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?” [Romans 10:14 NKJV]
The transformative power of the Gospel cannot be overstated. Believing in the Gospel and the finished work of Christ on the cross is what saves us. However, our salvation should not end with just us. Luke 19:10 says the Son of man came to seek and save the lost. This was Christ’s mission on earth, and as His followers, that should be our mission as well. Our hearts should be moved with compassion when we see people going down the wrong path. This is where evangelism comes in.
In the key scripture, Paul asked those questions to ignite the desire to share the Good News. Verse 13 says, “Everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved”. How do people call on the name of the Lord if they do not know it? It is like being sick and going to see the doctor to receive a drug to cure your illness. If the doctor does not prescribe the drug to you, how will the potency of the drug be of any help?
This is why we cannot be quiet as Christians. Men come under the influence of the Kingdom when the gospel is preached and they believe. The gospel must be preached to our friends, our work colleagues, the remote villages and to the ends of the earth. People are living in darkness, and we need to tell them of the light that saved us. It is selfish to keep the gospel to ourselves and watch people go to hell.
We should not be ashamed of the Good news of Christ. We should be bold and tell people of the love that once saved us so they can also be saved.
Prayer: Lord Heavenly Father thank You for the gift of salvation, we pray that You give us the courage to preach and tell people about this saving Grace so that they will also receive salvation. Amen.
