Forget Not All His Benefits

“Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul, and forget not [one of] all His benefits” [Psalm‬ ‭103:2‬ ‭AMPC‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬]

Was there ever a time you felt like you were struggling to praise God? Have you ever felt out of place in a multitude of believers because it seemed everyone but you was bursting forth with praise for God? Perhaps we all suffer some form of ‘spiritual amnesia’; when we tend to forget all the things God has done for us from time to time.

When we are struggling to give praise to God, a good place to start from is to refresh our memory about God’s goodness to us.

Psalm 68:19 says “Blessed be the Lord who daily loads us with benefits.” Every new day the Lord gives us breath, is a fresh opportunity to offer praise to Him. His mercies are new each morning! We must learn to be grateful for the seemingly “little blessings” we enjoy every day like the gift of life, food on our table and our salvation. We must never take God’s gifts for granted.

When we remember God’s kindness and faithfulness, praise is birthed forth. Our praise magnifies God and expresses our gratitude to Him. The psalmist says God is enthroned on our praises.

Furthermore, when we remember all the Lord does for us, it fuels our faith in Him towards an unknown future. Not forgetting, God’s track record affirms His faithfulness and gives us peace as we navigate through life’s uncertainties.

We must inculcate the good habit of remembering, counting and recounting all our blessings constantly. This practice will ensure that the praise for God never departs from our lips.

Dear Father, may I never forget Your benefits. I pray that my lips will never cease to bless Your name.
