Fruitful In His Presence
2nd JULY 2022
From a distance Jesus saw a fig tree covered with leaves, and he went to see if there were any figs on the tree. But there were not any, because it wasn’t the season for figs. Mark 11:13 CEV
Many a song has been written and many a written word has been sung about the Presence of the Holy Spirit. However, we believe that the most compelling argument for having experienced the Holy Spirit’s presence is bearing fruit in accordance with His nature.
There is much to be said about the power that our environment has over us. A common example is an adage, “show me your friends, and I’ll tell you your character.” The people in our environment, their actions and inactions, and how they interact with us all have an impact on the person we become. By observing us, one can deduce the type of company we keep.
In accordance with this principle, we must consciously bear the fruit of the Spirit for all to see. Because people can see the presence of the Holy Spirit when they see us bearing the fruit of the Spirit.
The verse for today reminds us of an important Kingdom principle: we must bear the fruit of the Spirit both in season and out of season. It is not enough to be kind, loving, and joyful only when things are going well. No, even when things are difficult, we must demonstrate our truth — that the Spirit never abandons us and that His Presence remains with us throughout. The love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control we exude are evidence of this.
Decide today to carry evidence of His Presence with you wherever you go.
Dear Father, grant me the fruit of Holy Spirit’s companionship so that His presence is evident in my life.
