God Honours Us
30th JANUARY, 2021
For God is not unrighteous to forget your work, and the labour of love by which you have showed honour to His name, in that you have served the saints and are continuing to serve them. [Hebrews 6:10 AFV]
Indeed, God’s Word gives hope; it reminds us how much of a loving Father God is. Every action of love by a Christian is never overlooked by God. How do we know this? Our opening scripture says it all. This actually tells on the character of God as one who doesn’t take the effort of His creation for granted.
God daily assures us to trust in His “Fear not” for indeed He is always with us. Our heavenly Father honours us by the manifestations of His good intentions for us. It may seem sometimes that the call to follow Jesus is a death sentence — a life of misery and pain. We are sometimes caught in this web because we may probably be expecting to be acknowledged by and before men. Our father’s definition for honour is in sharp contrast to the world’s definition.
It’s okay if we never get any earthly recognition, a “well done” from God is what we must look forward to. We have no idea what God has in store for us both here on earth and in eternity. Rest assured, according to His Word, we trust that it will be better than our highest definition of best. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 2:9 (TPT) “This is why the scriptures say: Things never discovered or heard of before, things beyond our ability to imagine — these are the many things God has in store for all His lovers.”
This is not to influence having a nonchalant response to life. God recognises and honours us in ways we may not see as we are here on earth but we can take a cue from brothers and sisters in Christ who came way ahead of us. I doubt most of them ever considered books in the Bible will be named after them. That’s our Heavenly Father for you; He honours us by choosing us to be a significant part of His story.
Praise be to His glorious name!
Father, thank You for the assurance that our service is never overlooked. Help us stay true to You no matter how hard things get. Amen.
