His Harvest Field
10th OCTOBER 2025
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” [Matthew 9:37 — 38 NIV]
There are so many people around us who have not yet encountered the saving love of Jesus Christ. Some have never heard the Gospel clearly; others have heard but have no one to walk with them, guide them, or disciple them in faith. Across nations and cities, the harvest is indeed plentiful, but the workers are few.
Spreading the Word is not optional; it is essential to salvation. As Scripture says, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” But how can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?” (Romans 10:13 — 15).
This reveals why prayer is vital: before anyone can go, they must first be sent, and God is the One who sends. Our prayers activate that sending power, positioning people, resources, and opportunities for the Gospel to reach where we cannot physically go. When we pray for the Lord of the harvest to send labourers, we are partnering with God’s heart for souls.
Prayer prepares the ground, stirs the hearts of those who will go, and strengthens the ones already on the field.
Our prayers matter. They move the hand of God to raise teachers, evangelists, missionaries, and everyday believers who will boldly share the Gospel. They open doors in regions where the Word has been silenced and empower believers in places of persecution. Every time we pray for the harvest, we are sowing seeds into eternity.
Let us take up this call with sincerity. Pray for those around you who don’t yet know Jesus, for the missionaries labouring in distant lands, and for yourself that God would use you as a light wherever you are. The harvest is ready. May we never grow weary of praying until the whole world hears.
Prayer: Lord of the harvest, we thank You for the souls You desire to save. Stir our hearts with compassion and help us to pray faithfully for labourers. Use us as Your instruments to reach those around us. May Your Gospel spread in power and love across every nation. In Jesus' name, Amen.
