“And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor — Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever — ” [John‬ ‭14:16‬ ‭AMP]‬‬‬‬‬‬

From the inception of creation, God has faithfully been present with humanity to guide our course and ensure order. Indeed, God is not a God of confusion. The book of John tells us that God has sent the Holy Spirit to be our helper, advocate and counsellor on this journey called life.

The basic needs of man as essential as they are, aren’t the primary things God wants us to live for. God created us for so much more. Sometimes, pride, doubt, fear and anxiety creep in and if not checked, results in living up to the expectations and demands of this world.

We all can attest to the pattern the world’s system has in place; get educated, work and make money so you can pay bills and get the things you want for as long as you can live. Observe the frustration people go through if they are unable to get to the top of the academic ladder as expected (mind you, I’m not saying education isn’t a good thing to pursue).

Our escape from this bubble of anxiety is the HOLY SPIRIT! In John 14:16–17, God gave us the Holy Spirit to be our guide, to teach and give us counsel always. This is why our quiet-time [precious moments] cannot be taken for granted as these are some of the teachable moments the Holy Spirit uses.

The Holy Spirit is ever ready to lead us on this road of purpose if only we will trust and submit to Him. He is eager to let us know why we are here on earth.

Once we grasp this truth we will be able to start walking in that purpose. When we live in such truth, every experience becomes a learning opportunity. Even better, we get to understand how our basic needs are by-products of purpose. We get a clear sense of direction regarding when to wait and when to move.

It might interest you to know that the Holy Spirit is very much interested in building your character and guiding you even in your choice of a future partner. He incites purpose in our hearts for us to know who best fits. It goes beyond emotional chemistry and material things, for they all fade away with time. It takes purpose to keep the flame of love burning in such a time.

Knowing your purpose gives a sense of peace. When the Holy Spirit leads you, even the necessary challenging times we go through in life will be cherished.

Father, thank You for sending Your Holy Spirit as my helper, advocate and counsellor. Help me to listen to Him at all times.
