“I am the Resurrection”
4th APRIL, 2021
Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. [John 11:25 NLT]
The life of Jesus Christ of Nazareth is a catalogue of many wonderful lessons, virtues and values. Faith, dedication, discipleship, love, purpose, sacrifice, and generosity, amongst others, are all beautifully exemplified in the life of Jesus. Even the death of Jesus Christ teaches us the importance of obedience to God. Yet, those are not the most significant reasons why even after thousands of years, He still remains relevant.
The death of Jesus Christ and His resurrection on the 3rd day after His burial, is the pivotal moment in history on which our entire faith is built. By virtue of His resurrection, Christ proves the power of God is unmatchable and that the enemy is completely defeated. And that same power resides in our very being!
If Jesus had remained in the grave after His death, we will not have any gospel to save us from death, hell and the grave. We will not have any salvation message for the lost and dying world. The gospel is complete because He lives!
It is very important that we understand the significance of what Jesus is saying in our opening verse. Not only did He resurrect, but He has become the resurrection and the life for all of mankind. Wow! This means that in Him alone resides the hope of life after death. Anything that is not found in Him cannot receive the life which is the light of men, as John 1:4 puts it. No good thing (according to the will of God) dies in Christ; He is the resurrection and the life. Our relationships, education, careers, families, purposes can all be resurrected in Christ, so commit them to Him.
Let this day remind you of the price Christ paid for you and the entire world. Let it remind you that He lives forevermore, and He is present in the heart of anyone who believes in Him and welcomes Him. It is our earnest prayer that you receive life for your spirit, soul and ultimately, your body. That is only possible through Jesus; the resurrection and the life. Believe in Him.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the wonderful work You did in raising Jesus from the grave. Because of that, I have hope for an everlasting life in Your glory and splendour. I am forever grateful to have victory over death, hell and the grave, all through the resurrected Christ. Amen.
