Keep His Ordinances
23rd MARCH 2023
--
For the [true] love of God is this: that we do His commands [keep His ordinances and are mindful of His precepts and teaching]. And these orders of His are not irksome (burdensome, oppressive, or grievous). 1 John 5:3 AMPC
If you can imagine good things for yourself, what about the One who allowed His Son to die for your redemption while you were still undeserving of it? Do you truly believe that God wants you to be unhappy?
There has always been and will always be a path that appears suitable for us as humans, but it leads to death. It is human nature to want to direct events and live our lives as we see fit. What has that ever got us? Most of the time, we discover that if we had simply heeded the Lord’s voice and word, we would not have needed to pray certain types of mercy and deliverance prayers. As Christians, this becomes a challenge when the Lord, who should be first in all things, wants us to go right, but we want to go left.
Most of the time, there is a challenge of knowing what the Lord wants and wanting to go the Lord’s way, but failing to do so.
In Ezekiel 36:26–27, the Lord says, “I will take away your stubborn heart and give you a new heart and a desire to be faithful. You will have only pure thoughts because I will put my Spirit in you and make you eager to obey my laws and teachings.” The Lord is aware of the difficulties we face in our obedience. He made a promise to the Israelites that He also made to us. Not only has Christ given us a new heart, but He has also given us a heart that seeks to honour Him, as well as His Holy Spirit, who enables us to walk in His statutes.
It is easier to obey the Lord as Kingdom children. We simply need to step into what has been made available to us.
Heavenly Father, You are the One who grants grace to will and to do according to Your good pleasure. Help me to walk in this grace so that I can always honour You, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
