Listen to Wisdom

Christ for Youth International

Have you ever truly cared for and loved someone while they, on the other hand, fail to recognise that everything you do is for their benefit? If you have, you are probably no stranger to those moments when you explode in rage and are almost fuming because you don’t know what else you can do to get this person to behave properly. Wisdom, on the other hand, genuinely loves and cares for us and despises the fact that we fail to recognise that everything she does is for our benefit.

Wisdom is clearly moved in the Scripture quoted above to strongly warn us not to dismiss her admonition. She knows what will happen once we accept her and fully embrace her reproofs. Wisdom will share her spirit with us. Remember 1 Corinthians 2:11: “For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.” The spirit of Wisdom also understands the mind of Wisdom. In other words, having the Wisdom spirit is equivalent to having the Wisdom mind, which is a wise mind.

According to 1 Corinthians 1:24, Christ Jesus is the Wisdom of God, and according to John 1:1, He is the Word of God. God’s Wisdom and His Word are the same man, Jesus Christ. The closer you come to the Word, the closer you come to Christ, and the closer you come to Wisdom. Allow the Word of Christ to dwell richly in you, for then He Himself will dwell richly in you, and you will justify Wisdom.

A revelation of God’s word enlightens a [wo]man’s heart. Keep in mind that a receptive/sensitive heart is how we listen to God. That is why we require the wise heart, which wisdom freely offers if we will only listen to her rebuke. There is no reality apart from God’s word, and wisdom is calling us back to it. Wisdom wishes to reintroduce us to God’s word.
