Living Free in Christ
21st NOVEMBER 2022
It shall come to pass in that day That his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, And his yoke from your neck, And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil. Amen. Isaiah 10:27 NKJV
Back in the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit would come upon someone chosen by God, and through that, the person becomes empowered to live a victorious life by accomplishing great and mighty things to God’s Glory. Similarly, this is seen when the kings of Israel; such as Saul and David, were chosen by God and thus, were subsequently anointed by God through the Prophet Samuel (1 Samuel 10:1 & 1 Samuel 16:13).
As believers in our risen Lord and Saviour, Christ Jesus, there is even better news for us. The anointing does not have to be upon us only temporarily. For we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people (1 Peter 2:9a). As believers in Christ Jesus, a life of victory is not only meant for certain aspects of our lives, but for every area of our lives. The Holy Spirit lives within us, and thus, we are anointed; now and always. We are anointed for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them (Ephesians 2:10) so we cannot be burdened by any yoke.
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Not only is He, the Anointed One, on our side, but He has also freely anointed us with the same Spirit. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Our victory is in the freedom we have in Christ. Freedom to yield to the Holy Spirit at all times, and walk in victory. Victory, not because of seemingly perfect circumstances, but Victory, because we know whom we have believed.
Heavenly Father, we thank You that we walk in victory not because of who we are, but because of who we are in You. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
