But he, being filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. Act 7:55 AFV

The glory of God can be seen. Is that not something we all delight to witness, to behold in amazement, and never lose sight of? However, what are the conditions that enable us to keep our eyes on the glory of God? Stephen and his experience show us at least one of such conditions. Stephen was a church member in the days of the apostles, serving diligently and full of the Holy Spirit. He was not shy to share his knowledge of scripture and teach people who were confused or misinterpreted the teachings of Christ. This won him many adversaries, to the point where they gathered to stone him and actually went through with it.

At that moment, Stephen was not without the Holy Spirit, as a matter of fact, the Bible says he was filled with the Holy Spirit. In difficult situations or hard times, never conclude that you are without the Spirit, hence the reason you are going through a particularly rough patch. Stephen knew the power that was at work in him and knew very well what he could do with that power. However, beholding the glory of God was his sole preoccupation and that was too fulfilling as it overshadowed the challenge he was facing.

God’s glory is not far from you. In your good times and not-so-good times, God’s glory is always available. As you continue to fellowship with the Holy Spirit, staying filled by Him, you can be sure to look intently for the glory of God and you will see it. Stephen did not look casually, he looked with intent. Are you looking for the glory of God in your situation with real intent? So much that the challenges and attacks are overpowered?

Remember, anything you see, as you look intently, can only be deemed as the glory of God when it reveals Jesus Christ as its endorsement.

Holy Spirit, thank You for filling me up and always staying with me, even as I fellowship with You daily. Help me to keep my eyes fixed on the glory of my heavenly Father in all situations and circumstances. As I behold Your glory, may all storms of life lose their hold in Jesus' name, Amen.
