Music is Divine

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Ephesians 5:18–19 KJV

Music is divine, and its power is yet to be fully comprehended. Music can bypass the defences of your heart and bring stillness into animation. Music can cause praise to burst forth from the depths of the heart. Music can sow seeds into your heart without awareness.

Music is a weapon that influences the one who wields it to motion for good or evil. In 1 Samuel 16:23, music in the hands of David brought refreshment to King Saul. In 2 Kings 3:15, music in the hands of the minstrel caused the hand of the Lord to come upon Elisha.

Take a minute and go through your music folders. Assess the songs you have granted unrestricted access to your heart. Do they cause you to praise or worship the Lord? Do they bring the hand of the Lord upon you? If your songs do not tune you to the Lord, make an intentional decision and put them away. In Proverbs 4:23, your heart is too delicate for you to leave it unguarded, especially to music that does not draw you closer to God.

Finally, brothers and sisters in the Lord, I commend you to Light and Love and Love on the Vine albums by La Famille Music, which can keep you in tune with God and keep you in the presence of God.

Thank You, Father, for the gift of music, I declare that Your presence surrounds me and your word is planted in my heart, as I spend time listening to music that glorifies Your name, in Jesus' name, Amen.
