My Strength and Song
10th AUGUST 2022
The Lord ·gives me strength and makes me sing [is my strength and my song]; he ·has saved me [is my salvation]. He is my God, and I will praise him. He is the God of my ·ancestors [fathers], and I will ·honor [exalt] him. Exodus 15:2EXB
‘Count your blessings, name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord has done.’ These lines from a classic Christian hymn encourage us to be thankful for what the Lord has done for us.
When we think about all the ways God has blessed us, we can’t help but praise Him and appreciate everything we have.
We should consciously count our blessings because we frequently overlook or ignore the various blessings we receive on a daily basis. However, when we, like Moses and the Israelites, consider the blessings and marvellous things that God has performed on our behalf, we cannot help but praise Him.
Take some time today to reflect on all the not-so-good moments in your life. All the times of tension, gloom, frustration, and loss. Take a look at how far God has taken you. In reality, you don’t have to look very far. Consider today’s events and all the blessings you already have, the most important of which is your life.
But don’t stop there; share this word with someone else so that their hearts might be raised in praise as well. And if words fail you, sing to them, ‘Count your many blessings and see what God has done.’
Help me, Father, to count my blessings so that I do not overlook the innumerable opportunities to worship You.
