No Hypocrisy and Partiality
14th JULY, 2021
“But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. For you neither enter yourselves nor allow those who would enter to go in.” [Matt 23:13 ESV]
The wisdom of God does not cause one to pretend to be smarter than they really are. James 3:17 states that the wisdom from Heaven is impartial and sincere. One who is following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, will not think of one person as better than the other and will obviously not think of themselves as better than others. A true follower of Christ, operating in the wisdom of the Spirit will avoid lies and deceptions.
The Pharisees and Sadducees back in the day seemed to be the only ones “truly” linked to God and they led many people astray by their false doctrine and insistence on following laws instead of genuinely seeking God. They themselves were crooks and were not going to enter into God’s rest but to worsen their case, they made it such that others too wouldn’t enter Heaven even if they didn’t know what they were doing.
When Jesus came they felt threatened because He broke down all the castles they had built with their lies. Lies cannot stand in the face of truth and they wanted to remain in power, they did not want other people to be saved. They acted in ways that we as believers should never do. We should never deprive someone of hearing the truth, especially the truth that God loves them and came to die for them.
A mark of true heavenly wisdom is sharing the gospel. It sounds far fetched, doesn’t it? But that’s true. Even the Bible says “… He who wins souls is wise.” Let us do the needful, let us bring the truth to those who are still bound by lies.
Dear Lord, thank You for the truth in Your word. Please bring me to a place where I never become a hypocrite in Your kingdom and prevent others from being saved in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
