Passion is Contagious.
9th JUNE 2020
“As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.” Proverbs 27:17 [NKJV]
Evil company corrupts but the right company edifies. In our journey of loving God and living for Him, we can progress more if only we choose the right friends to do life together with. Our friends are people we spend most of our time with and so we must be deliberate about choosing them. We need to make this decision ourselves with the help of the Holy Spirit. We need to surround ourselves with the right family or friends if we will live according to the truth of God’s Word.
You need friends who will encourage you to pursue the course of Christ. You need friends who are spiritually-minded if you are also going to stay spiritually-minded. You need friends who you will share your quiet time with. You need friends who will tell you about the great Christian books they are reading. You need friends who will tell you about various topics they are studying in the Bible currently. If you have such people around you, you will be motivated to live a godly life as you also motivate them to live a godly life.
You need friends who daily seek the interest of the Kingdom if you are also going to seek the interest of the Kingdom daily.
There are some people who are not born again but are definitely going to be in our lives. We cannot do anything about such people. We need such people around us so that we can influence them with our lives and also share the Gospel with them. What we need to work on is who we are going to spend most of our time with. Jesus spent time with sinners and tax collectors at various seasons but most of His time was definitely with His disciples. No wonder He said at a point that they were not just His disciples but they were His friends.
Once we are born again, God gives us a spiritual family to be a part of. We need to accept this family and do life together with them if we are going to progress. The friends might not necessarily be perfect people but they might be people who have a desire and are striving to become more and more like Jesus. God desires that we will move along with such people as we help each other stand for Jesus along the journey.
Holy Spirit, please influence my circle of friends, that I may dwell in the company of people with a passion for You. Amen.
