Praise is a Lifestyle [Part 2]
7th AUGUST 2020
“Through Him, therefore, let us constantly and at all times offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name.” [Hebrews 13:15 AMPC]
From the Part 1 of this devotional, we saw how the Jews have inculcated the praise of the LORD into their culture and also got to understand what “Hallelujah” means. A lifestyle can be said to be a pattern of behaviour one has become accustomed to as a matter of habit. When praise becomes a habit it simply means it is an integral part of a person’s life so much so that it can be thought of as a default setting.
Our opening scripture entreats us to offer up constantly and at all times a sacrifice of praise to God. However, we can attest to the common truth that life doesn’t always hand to us, on a silver platter, “praiseworthy” circumstances.
Yet, it is possible to give praise to God at all times and in all circumstances. The second part of Hebrews 13:15 shows us how. For praise to become an attitude we must learn to thankfully acknowledge God for who He is in our lives and seek to glorify Him always.
A thankful heart brings us to a place of rest in God’s faithfulness even when we can’t understand His ways.
A lifestyle of praise starts from within and is independent of external happenings. A grateful heart is always accompanied by lips that constantly sing God’s praises.
Dear Lord, let my heart be always full of thanksgiving so that my lips can sing continually sing Your praises.
