Praising Him Together
19th AUGUST 2020
The trumpeters and singers performed together in unison to praise and give thanks to the Lord. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals, and other instruments, they raised their voices and praised the Lord with these words: “He is good! His faithful love endures forever!” At that moment a thick cloud filled the Temple of the Lord. The priests could not continue their service because of the cloud, for the glorious presence of the Lord filled the Temple of God.” [2 Chronicles 5:13–14 NLT]
After Solomon had completed the majestic temple, the Israelites could not contain their great joy. This led to a united outpouring of praise and thanksgiving to God. It is recorded in scripture that they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and other instruments with singing and praised the Lord, saying;
“For He is good, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever.’’
As they praised God, the glory of God filled the temple such that the ministers could not even stand.
God is good and He is worthy of our praise always. His goodness is not dependent on our circumstances, therefore when we come into His presence to lift up praises to His name, we must rid ourselves of all forms of distractions and focus on the One who is worthy of our praise.
God delights in the praises of His people. Therefore, when the children of God come together to give God praise, it attracts His manifest presence. The people encountered His presence when they praised Him together. Like the Israelites, we too attract the glory of God when we praise Him corporately.
We tend to sometimes think that we can only praise God alone or in our hearts. God has saved us and brought us into a family. For that reason, we must not only praise Him individually but we must also praise Him corporately with one heart and mind.
Father, You alone are good and worthy of our praise. Amen.
