But if I by the Spirit of God cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. Or how is anyone able to enter into the house of a strong man and plunder his goods, if he does not first bind the strong man? And then he will plunder his house. The one who is not with Me is against Me, and the one who does not gather with Me scatters. [Matthew 12:28–30 AFV]

There is the need for prayer in soul winning. Prayer is key in our quest to be labourers in the harvest of souls from the kingdom of darkness to the Kingdom of light. No one can win souls without first being a person of prayer.

All great soul-winners have been men of much and mighty prayer, and all great revivals have been preceded and carried out by persevering, prevailing knee-work in the closet. [Samuel Logan Brengle]

The enemy, the god of this world, has blinded the eyes of the lost from seeing the light of the gospel. The enemy has the lost, bound and in captivity. We cannot plunder the enemy without first binding him. There is no other proven method for binding the enemy than prayer.

Jesus wants us to gather the lost with Him. He emphatically said that “the one who does not gather with Me scatters.” However, Jesus does not want us to go into the field as unprepared labourers. This is why we, as children of God, have to invest prayer into soul winning. Prayer readies us for the harvest ahead.

We must pray for the current harvesters in the field. We ought to pray for the lost souls, to be delivered from the bondage of the enemy. And we also need to pray that the Lord will send in more labourers to the field of souls.

Heavenly Father, please remind me at all times that prayer is the key to soul winning.
