Purpose
15TH OCTOBER 2025
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. [Ephesians 2:10 NKJV]
What do you want to become when you grow up? Every child has had this question posed to them in one form or another in the course of their growth. It is expected of every human to become something or someone as they grow, to fulfil a certain need.
The answer to that question however is often hard-won. Very few people are able to clearly determine what they are going to become from a young age and stick to the path that will lead them into becoming that.
More often we have no idea or we have too many ideas on what to do and who we will be. That is perfectly natural and poignantly shows our inadequacy even if our pride will not allow us to see it. However purpose is so crucial to our existence that we cannot dismiss it. As Rick Warren said “The greatest tragedy is not death, but life without purpose”.
How then do we navigate this dilemma? Look to the manufacturer to determine how the product must be used. A simple logical statement. Yet our flesh rebels passionately against not being God for ourselves. So we reject the truth that only He can tell us who we are to be and lead us in that way.
Regardless the truth is indefatigable and no matter our opinions or feelings towards it will remain true for all eternity. So look to God. Do not ask yourself what you want to be or look to your environment to determine what your existence means.
As our key scripture reminds us; we are His workmanship, and like a potter determines what a lump of clay becomes He is sat at the wheel of our life, patiently molding and turning us so we can do the good works which He has prepared for us beforehand — if only we will submit and be malleable.
This is your charge today; submit and seek the purpose the Creator has predestined for you. Then diligently walk in that purpose all your days. For it is in performing the function for which it was created, that the created achieves success.
Prayer; Lord, thank you for Your love. I submit my will to yours today. Lead me, mold me, Fill me, Use me and Aid me to find and walk in the purpose You have for me. In Jesus name, Amen.
