Pursue Purpose [Part 1].

15th JANUARY, 2021

And it came to pass, the Word of the LORD came to me, saying, 5 “Before I formed you in the belly I knew you; and before you came forth out of the womb I consecrated you, and I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” [Jeremiah 1:4–5 AFV]

Purpose is a gift from God to humanity. The need to pursue purpose is vital because it is generated directly from God. Isn’t it interesting that some living things like trees, birds, water bodies continue faithfully to fulfil purpose even after the fall of man? Even though the initial intent of God’s divine creation was compromised by the actions of man, the express purpose of everything created still stands out.

It is important to pursue purpose this year and beyond. That is because it cuts out an unwinding path for us to journey on. It also answers the question of who and whose we are and what we are to live for. In a world where social media makes others feel they’ve accomplished nothing, living out purpose helps to properly safeguard our hearts against such potential intimidations. As a matter of fact, when we focus on purpose, we even see the need to cheer others on to make it in life.

Purpose breeds love and a clear sense of direction. We will know which opportunities to say ‘Yes or No’ to when we live in purpose. We will learn to live by faith and obedience, instead of chasing after any prospect that comes our way.

Eagerly pursuing purpose can be likened to having the requisite training and suitable armoury on a battlefield. Yes, this life may be full of ups and downs, yet purpose cushions us through it. Giving up doesn’t become an option because purpose imprints a desire within us to just please the Father. At the end of our lives, the produce of our purpose is what we will be acknowledged by God. Purpose teaches us to live meaningfully and selflessly before we take our last breath into eternity.

God is ever-loving and continually provides us grace to know and live out the purpose for His glory. For some of us, it may mean taking steps of faith to start our business, catering for the well being of others, disciplining our younger relations and so on.

Heavenly Father, thank You for ordaining purpose for my life even before I was born. Please help me to go after Your purpose for my life with full conviction. Thank you for granting me every resource that I need to fulfil it for the glory of Your name. Amen.
