Quality Time in Prayer

Christ for Youth International

If we are to know God intimately and walk with Him, we must spend time alone with Him. When Jesus travelled around speaking about the Kingdom and healing the sick, His popularity spread far and wide, and a large crowd followed Him. He was obviously very busy meeting people’s needs while also teaching them.

However, Jesus learned to take time aside from His busy schedule to pray to His Father. He was able to accomplish this because He prioritized prayer. We, as Jesus’ followers, must learn to withdraw from the various things going on around us in order to spend time in prayer. “If you’re too busy to pray, you’ve become too busy,” someone once stated.

We must recognize that our walk with God is the most important connection we have, and we must set aside time each day to be with the Lord. Communication is essential to any great and meaningful connection. The more time we spend with the Lord, the more we get to know Him.

We must also recognize that we have been called not merely to serve the Lord, but also to know Him personally, which is only attainable through prayer. Our wellspring of ministry is the Lord. When we spend time in prayer, we obtain grace and the ability to serve the Lord more effectively and for a longer period of time. Because prayer is so important, we must learn to set aside time each day to spend with the Lord.
