Remain in Love
31st JANUARY 2023
“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5 NLT
On our own, we can never conceive the experience of love, let alone radiate it to others. The entire chapter of John 15 gives us a candid focus on how we can grow in love with Jesus; remaining in Him. It only takes our response to God’s fervent love towards us to produce love in us. How much we seek to be saturated by His love will depend on how consistent we remain in the Father. The more our focus is on Him as the source of our lives and love, the more our knowledge of Him will expand its threshold for us to reek of His very essence.
One thing remains, the Father’s love never runs out on us. The question here is, are we willing to be humbly nourished by the Father every moment? If yes, this will require safeguarding our faith in Him by fully depending on Him. God continually fuels our passion for Him when we present to Him our willingness to go deeper. We daily have to reflect and check where our heart is focused on. Sometimes, our focus is compromised, not necessarily because our gaze has shifted to what is bad or evil. In certain instances, it could be that our desires latch on to and prioritises the good things that flow from God instead of God Himself. It takes studying His word and praying to Him to recalibrate to His will.
“No, I will not abandon you as orphans — I will come to you.” John 14:18 NLT
God seeks to help us remain in Him, He is more interested in us flourishing than we could ever imagine. The more we acknowledge this love journey is impossible without His help, the better it is for us. “But the Holy Spirit will come and help you, because the Father will send the Spirit to take my place. The Spirit will teach you everything and will remind you of what I said while I was with you.” John 14:26 CEV.
Let us start and or continue to stay in God as we anchor our souls in the Father by the strength the Holy Spirit always provides. Let us launch into the deep.
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus, and the opportunity to remain in Him. We confess that sometimes we drift away from You, and become focused on the things of this world instead of You. Help us to remain in You, that we would bear the fruit of the Spirit, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
