Testifying Strengthens Faith
24th NOVEMBER 2022
I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed. Psalms 119:46 KJV
As believers, sharing our testimony is fundamental. It tells of God’s saving grace and mercies towards us. It speaks of the goodness and kindness of our Saviour, who brought us out of sin and crowned us with glory. Our first testimony as believers is of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Testimonies are stories of victory which encourages and strengthens other believers' faith. It also helps to stay confident in God, that He is a promise keeper and will do all He has said.
Sharing your testimony points other people to the Gospel. Do you see how important sharing your testimony is? When you share your testimony, it helps others to realise that they are not too far gone, if God has done it for you, He can do it for them as well. The goal of sharing our testimony isn’t to boast of ourselves or of our own strengths. The goal is to point others to the saving grace of God.
“And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified...” John 4:39 (KJV). John 4 talks about a Samaritan woman having a personal encounter with Jesus. She did not keep this encounter to herself. In this scripture, she went into her city and told people about the experience she had with Jesus. The scripture says many Samaritans of that city believed because of her testimony. This shows the role sharing testimony plays in our lives and in the lives of others.
Let us encourage each other in the faith by sharing our testimonies and our stories of victories. Even as we speak of our testimonies, our lives should testify to the goodness of God daily. We should live every day of our lives, conscious of our victory in Christ. This testifies of Christ to the people around us.
Lord, I’m thankful for my first testimony being sending Christ to die for my sins. I am grateful for all the other testimonies in my life which speak of Your goodness and helps to point others to Your saving Grace. Help me never to be silent about the marvelous things You keep doing in me, for me and through me. Amen
