The Enlightenment of the Gospel
8th OCTOBER 2025
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”” — [Romans 1:16–17 NKJV]
Many of us are familiar with the Great Commission, where Jesus tells the disciples to take the message of the gospel to the corners of the Earth. We are aware of the need for us to share the gospel, and God, in His wisdom and kindness, creates opportunities for us to be able to share this gospel.
There is so much going on in the world right now, a lot of it being negative. News of wars going on in various countries, the destruction of the environment and the general moral decline of society as a whole all appear to be afoot. In times like these, as Christians, it is easy to resort to complaining and pointing fingers, apportioning blame to whoever we deem responsible for these events. It is easy for us to remain within our little bubble of comfort — in our little Christian circles, attending our wonderful Christian programs, speaking ‘Christianese’ with our Christian brothers and sisters and calling it a day — while distancing ourselves from the perishing world.
Depending on how we choose to see it, fortunately or unfortunately, that is not the charge that we have received. It will simply not suffice for us to continue to practice Christianity in this manner, doing the things that feel comfortable to us in a context that feels comfortable to us. Rather, we are instructed to GO. To leave the friendly and the familiar and venture into uncharted territory for the sake of the propagation of the gospel.
But why is this so important?
Paul referred to the gospel as the “power of God unto salvation”. We have to understand and settle with ourselves that it is the gospel and only the gospel that holds the power to truly transform people. David said, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” In this way, the word of God (or the gospel for the sake of today’s topic) provides enlightenment to the lives of many and causes them to have a change of heart towards the lives that they live outside of God.
For this reason, it is important for us to have a heart of compassion towards the lost. Instead of us to assume a position of detachment, or even worse, condemnation, we must approach them with love, sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, with the objective of seeing them saved. This is how we will win the world, through the light of the gospel shining through every nook and cranny of our world.
Share Jesus with someone today!
Prayer: Father, I thank You for today. Thank You for the light that the gospel has brought to my life. I pray for the grace and the courage to share this light with others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
