The Power that Transforms

Christ for Youth International

And the Spirit of the LORD will come powerfully upon you, and you shall prophesy with them, and shall be changed into a different man. [1 Samuel 10:6 AFV]

It is hardly surprising that many young people believe they are a disaster. Do you think you’re too much of a “mess” to be considered worthy by anyone? Or do you believe there is no hope for you? Consider the 12 disciples of Jesus. You may wonder why Judas was chosen, but we might also wonder why the others were chosen. Nonetheless, today, we are carefully following the hard work of these men who would have been considered unqualified.

Do you think it was their doing? The Bible in Acts 1:8 says; “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere — in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” and that’s exactly what happened.

When these disciples were converted, their history could no longer define them. Consider Paul’s background and how it could not keep him from pressing on toward the goal, leading an example for all saints. The transformational power of the Holy Spirit is true; if you are willing, you are no exception. Because He can alter you, the mirror reflection you term “a mess,” “insufficient,” and “incapable” might be a powerful vessel in the Potter’s hand.

It makes no difference who you are because when the Holy Spirit descends upon you, the “old you” gives way. Acts 2:17 ‘In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.’ Again, you are no exception to this rule.

Wherever you are in your faith today, or whatever gift you have, regardless of the multitudes you may or may not be leading, realize that the power that converted you is still alive and powerful enough to transform others. This power is embodied in the person of the Holy Spirit.

Father, thank You for Your Spirit, who makes me sufficient. Thank You that I am who I am because of who You are in me. I declare that I am transformed today in Jesus’ name. Amen.
