The Spirit Who Leads You

Once we are made new in Christ, we are brought to a place of sonship. God is a Father to us because we are renewed by the blood of Jesus. He seeks to make His home in us when we obey.

A father is to love, lead, provide, guide and guard his family as part of his responsibilities. Fortunately for humanity, we have the Father of fathers who is interested in leading our lives to come to a perfect end in Him. This is evident in our receipt of the gift of the Holy Spirit when we allow Christ to be our Lord.

“And I will pray the Father, and He will give another Helper, that He may abide with you forever.” John 14:16

If we could do it all by ourselves God would not have made provision for us to be led. Again, the presence of the Holy Spirit shows that we cannot live life any another way. This is an established truth, that, whatever God does in our lives is for the good of others as well. God has good plans for humanity, as such, we must abide in Him to know what role (purpose) He wants us to play in this agenda.

In God’s scheme of movement, our sensitivity to the promptings of the Holy Spirit is vital. Through constant fellowship in prayer, reading and studying the Word, this is made possible.

How do we know what God expects of us? It is simply doing the next good thing inscribed in His Word. Although we may have our own picture of how the Holy Spirit leads, the fundamental way by which He leads is through the Word.

Staying close to the scripture will aid us know what we need to do always. Much as others may have unique experiences with how the Holy Spirit leads, it all starts from intimacy with the Father through the Word, prayer and fellowship with other believers.

In our quest to move for the Kingdom’s cause, the leading of the Holy Spirit is what we must prioritize before seeking popular opinion.
