Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And in everything — whatever you do in word or in deed — do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him. [Colossians 3: 16–17 AFV]
The Amplified version (AMPC) of our introduction text discusses the importance of making a home for the Word of Christ in our hearts and minds. Everything we do will be done with reverence to Him if we allow this truth to become a reality in our lives. As a result, we are compelled to please the Father in our words and actions.
When we are immersed in God’s Word, He becomes the primary point of our worship in everything.
Our praises must originate from a place of appreciation if they are to please God. The reality is, that a grateful heart attracts the Father’s attention. Our praise for God is based on our comprehension of His Word and His promises to us, which reveals our faith in Him.
The Bible tells us how to glorify God. At the same time, it demonstrates where we fall short in thanking Him. When it comes to thanking God, because He is a King, we must use wisdom, as with everything else. When God’s Word permeates our life, it becomes second nature to praise Him because we are filled with wisdom and overflowing gratitude for His goodness in our lives.
When it comes to praising God, we must not be lax. Rather, we must worship Him with everything we have, encouraging one another to do the same as we do.
Please, Father, teach me to glorify You in whatever I do. May all of my words, deeds, and character bring You glory.
