The End of an Era

“The perfectly imperfect way to end Daniel Craig’s time as James Bond”

I would like to begin this review with one word, “WOW.” This was my only thought after watching No Time To Die. After the climactic ending, I was left speechless, a perfectly imperfect way to end the era of Daniel Craig as James Bond. Daniel Craig has been the face of James Bond since 2006 with his debut in the franchise, Casino Royale. Since the initial movie, he has done four other movies including Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre, and his newest movie that just came out this year, No Time To Die. With each movie involving Daniel Craig, the franchise seemed to be going to new heights with topics like untold stories about Bond’s childhood. They also seemed to get more and more action packed while still keeping that cool demeanor that is James Bond.

No Time To Die wraps up Daniel Craig’s story perfectly as all other James Bond movies were not interconnected; however, each one involving Daniel Craig stays on a timeline. I remember the first time I watched Spectre and saw the return of Mr. White from Casino Royale. The film does things never seen before like involving villains from the other movies and making a storyline throughout tying all of them up in No Time To Die. We see the daughter of Mr. White from Spectre and also Mr. White himself from Casino Royale. We see the secret society from Spectre making an appearance in the early stages of the movie as well as the head villain of Spectre.

We also see Bond for the first time fall truly in love and want to be with his family whereas the other Bonds in the past were more love them and leave them.

No Time To Die also does something new with comedic relief as it seems that almost every sad moment they seem to sneak in a line that makes the audience laugh. This movie played as a comedic relief in my personal life as earlier that morning I found out that my cousin, Curry, had lost his life to suicide. Growing up, Curry and I used to play James Bond at our grandparent’s house flipping a coin for who would be Bond and who would be the villain. I remember writing “ TOP SECRET” on folders and using them as props. I remember chasing my sister and him around the yard and trying to hide when it was my turn to be the villain. Thank you James Bond for the little bit of happiness you brought to Curry and me.

Curry and me deciding who got to be Bond.
