“The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the Lord of hosts.”(Hag. 2:8KJV)

We addressed the issue of Taking stock of our time in the first part of this series. If you haven’t read it, you can click on the link beow:

In this article, let’s take the spiritual stock of our TREASURE! The money and material possessions that God gave you this year. How did you use them? You should understand that God owns you and everything you have through creation and redemption and it must be used for His glory.

Reflections:

  • Is Christ Lord over your money and material possession? If Christ is not Lord over your money, then He is not Lord at all over your life!
  • Did your money/material possession belong to God or you? If it’s yours, then you are serving self and robbed God of His creation!
  • Did you consult Him before you spent a kobo or naira of His treasure He kept at your custody?

If you have spent your money at will then you are a slave to money and mammon is your god!

  • Did you pay the tithe of the money that God gave you this year no matter how small or much of the supply you enjoyed this year?. If you only pay, is it at irregular or regular interval?
  • Did you pay your tithe as you are led of God or just according to the tradition of your church tithe card/envelope to monitor how consistent you are?
  • Did you give the first fruit of your income this year?
  • Did you give any substantial amount to support God’s work or any credible servant of God who is committed to the cause of the gospel?
  • Did you really have a specific leading this year to give without anybody asking you to do so?
  • How much of your money made somebody glad this year? Did you really bless the needy, the orphans, the widows and the less privilege?
  • Did your house, car and every material thing you have served God’s purpose this year or they only served your own purpose?

If God has to pay you back with your unfaithfulness, stinginess, and greediness with money and material things He gave you this year? Do you think He will give you more in the coming year or treat you as an accursed person who must experience lack of all good things? Repent, plead for mercy and make a commitment to be faithful in the coming year.
