Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

Job 23:12

Job valued the word of God more than the food he ate. He obeyed every word that came to him. This ought to be our attitude towards the word of God.

We become Christ-like according to the measure with which we permit the word of God to prevail over us. When you are only hearing the word of God and you do not allow the word of God to prevail over you, you will not become Christ-like.

When a child of God looks upon the word like Job, then it becomes a reality in his daily life. During Job’s time, there was no written word, he only had the words spoken by angels, because that was the medium by which God spoke to Job; yet he never joked with God’s word.

Prevalence of the word of God is in degrees, if you submit in a greater degree, the more you will be Christ-like. The more you resist the word of God, the more you become carnal. We must allow the word of God to take its free course over our lives.

We have the written word printed in many forms, both in soft and hard copies. But we often belittle the word when it comes to us. We do not appreciate the word of healing he sends to us. This ought not to be because the word is Christ presence himself. We are to hold the word of God with all seriousness with which we hold God Himself.

His word makes our ministry limitless. You can have a ministry without limitation through the word of God. The more you receive and believe the word of God, the more you have the power to minister. This is because ministry comes by the word of God. When we talk of ministry, we are referring to genuine work that transforms lives, which comes only by the word of God.

19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen

Mk. 16:19,20.

You will begin to experience the power in the word when you take active steps based on the Word which God sends to you. Being a passive hearer of the word of God will deny you from enjoying the power in the Word.

Revival will break out almost anywhere if the Lord worked with those who preached and if the word was as real to them as the spoken word was real to the early Church. Revival is God coming to stay (Habkk 2:2,3). So when we pray for revival, we are praying for God to come. Because until He comes, nothing will happen. However, what makes Him come is our belief in His word and His willingness to come. If we do not believe His word, no matter how much we pray, He will not come.

God confirms His word wherever it is preached, God is in His word. God watches over His word till it is accomplished. He never set a low estimate upon it. He holds it in the highest regard. If he said it, that ends it. All you have to do is to wait for it. He is not a man that He will lie. He doesn’t change His mind. He regards His word and is committed to His word.

The word will work in you, building Jesus’ life, faith, love, grace and strength in you, or else it will judge you on the last day. However, if we disallow the word of God it doesn’t render the word of God invalid, it will only become a problem on the last day. If the word will work for us, we must cultivate the attitude of Job. He valued the word of God more than the food he ate. He obeyed every word that came to him. If we all live this way, we shall begin to see a transformation in our lives.

The word gets into your blood, into your system and becomes part of you as you are soaked in the word and the word is soaked into you. Until the word gets into your blood, you cannot experience transformation. When you get soaked in the word of God, then your life begins to blend with the word of God, and the two becomes one. The Word becomes your language and your word.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Col.3:16.

The word will dwell richly in you when you feed on media that is based on the word of God. Sing songs based on the word, watch films based on the word, read books based on the word. All of these strengthen your mind in line with God’s will when it is based on the genuine word of God.

What shall you say to these things? Consider your attitude in the past to the word of God based on the light of this word. Repent and correct your attitude towards God’s word today.
