It is better to trust God than to put confidence in man

We are to trust God in everything we do. Any moment we trust people, we will be disappointed. People will fail us very often. People are fragile and change and thus trusting people puts us in a fragile place.

People are in a survival mode, we want to show off, we want to prove ourselves to others. We are always looking for something to talk about; yet, what becomes a topic of discussion is mainly about people.

The flesh is not self-sustaining. It is God who sustains us. We eventually grow weak and weary. We are not to seek validation and approval from people. One moment people will be on our side then the next moment they are against us. Humans have a fallen nature, that is why there is a lot of wrongs in the world. The Bible tells us that none is righteous.

None is righteous, no not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one. Their throat is an open grave; they use their tongues to deceive. The venom of wasps is under their lips. Their mouth is full of curse and bitterness. Romans 3:10–18.

In our fallen nature, the most we are capable of is running after fleshly desires. When we put on the automatic carnal gear, we will run ourselves into destruction. Man was made in the image of God, yet we have driven ourselves so far from the original purpose.

The world is full of ugliness; a lot of chaos and turmoil that is a consequence of human action. Everything we do has a consequence, that is why the Bible advises us to do good, it is for our benefit.

People do what they think is best for them, they make decisions that can be good or bad. It is from their perspectives, from their understanding of things. Therefore, if we trust in people, they will make decisions from their point of view. They will say and do things, and their actions are usually influenced by multiple factors; their upbringing, culture, religion, and such things. They may or may not have our best interest at heart; and even if they act in our best interest, the choices they make may turn out to be wrong for us.

We do not accept to do or say things that go against God’s Word. We are rooted and firm in what God says about us. God knows our hearts. In the Old Testament, generations experienced consequences of their own actions and even the actions of their forefathers. People were always turning away from God despite warnings, despite God revealing Himself, despite witnessing blessings from God.

The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thought of his heart was only evil continually. Genesis 6:15.

Without God, at the heart of man is evil.

Praise God for the New Covenant. God sent His only Son Jesus to come to earth and show us the way. We were lost. He dwelt among us and did good. He was sinless. That is why we trust only in Jesus; He was sinless. Yet, even so, people hated Him and eventually crucified Him. He died and resurrected and thus defeated sin and death. In Jesus we have victory. We are saved by grace and not by our works. Our efforts cannot save us!

For all of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; and all of us wither like a leaf, and all our iniquities, like the wind, take us away. Isaiah 64:6.

Jesus Christ paid the price which we could never pay. As believers, we are supposed to imitate Jesus; do good. Jesus clothes us with His righteousness; when our sins are forgiven, they are remembered no more. We do 180 degrees turn around from sin and walk in the narrow path of doing good. Then we keep seeking God and develop a personal relationship with Him. God fills us with the Holy Spirit, our Comforter, our Teacher of Truth. In Jesus the solid rock we stand, every other ground is sinking sand. We trust in God only.

Knowing therefore that we can trust God and that He is trustworthy, we take our struggles to Him, we take our pains and hurts to Him. He understands. In Jesus, we find rest for our souls. We become Spirit-led. We walk by faith not by sight, and faith assures us that the things we do not yet see will indeed come to pass. It involves complete surrender to God.

We align our will with God’s will in accordance with His Word without compromise. We do what He tells us to do. Jesus told us if we love Him, we will obey His commands. We cannot claim to love God and yet not do what He tells us to do. God tells us to trust Him and put our trust and hope in Him. After everything else passes away, God remains.

Blessings.
