The spirit of rejection is a demonic spirit. It is an oppressive spirit that makes people live beneath their God-given capacity. The spirit of rejection makes a person feel like an outsider; like they do not fit in. When a person is under the oppression of the spirit of rejection, they feel unwanted, unappreciated, undesired, and like other people are better than them. Rejection makes a person feel like they are on the outside alone looking in. It leads to feeling as though other people are better and makes a person feel like they do not fit in.

When under the oppression of the spirit of rejection, a person feels like they are not good enough. Because of the extreme inner sense of rejection, they become people-pleasers and start doing things and saying things just to please other people. People-pleasing becomes a way for a person who feels rejected to seek acceptance and validation. Some go to great extremes in their attempt to feel accepted and reach the extent where they can do anything for other people in order to feel accepted and like they fit in.

The spirit of rejection makes a person themselves. When a person is faced with constant rejection, eventually they might stop trying and choose to isolate themselves. However, the more they isolate themselves, the worse the rejection gets. Rejection wounds a person’s self-esteem. It makes a person what is so wrong with them that makes other people reject them. The spirit of rejection creates a deep wound in the human soul because it goes against the natural human need for acceptance and belonging. It cuts deep and makes a person even question their worth as a human being.

Rejection makes a person shy, withdrawn, and awkward. The spirit of rejection becomes like a heavy weight that a person carries around and prevents such a person from becoming the person God created them to be. It makes a person live below the capacity and the purpose God intended for them.

The spirit of rejection works hand in hand with the spirit of mockery and the spirit of people-pleasing. Mockery makes a person the subject of other people’s crude jokes and laughter. When the spirit of mockery is at work, you will find people laughing at you for no good reason. Mockery makes people make fun of you, which leads to you wondering why it is that people laugh at you or even avoid you. This then makes the feeling of rejection worse and you isolate yourself more.

The spirit of people pleasing on the other hand makes you try to carry yourself in a way that is acceptable in the eyes of men. People pleasing makes you compliant and you start putting the needs of other people above your own in an effort to win their approval and acceptance. With time, however, you come to realize that nothing you do is ever good enough, and the more you try to please people, the worse things tend to get.

Rejection is not of God. The spirit of rejection comes from the devil and is a form of demonic oppression and spiritual attack. If you find yourself constantly feeling rejected, probably the spirit of rejection is at work in your life. Some signs that you are dealing with rejection include being a people-pleaser, shyness, low self-esteem, isolating yourself from people, lack of close friends, facing mockery from people, and the inner feeling that you do not belong or feel like you are an outsider.

There is good news though, that you can overcome the spirit of rejection by God’s power. When you are under the oppression of the spirit of rejection, you have to recognize that that is spiritual warfare. It is important to see it for what it is so that you do not fight spiritual warfare using carnal weapons. When you see people rejecting you, avoiding you, laughing at you, and even mocking you, realize that you are under attack and put on the full armor of God, which includes the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, preparation for the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God, and prayer. Be ready to resist the devil.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Ephesians 6:10–13.

For you to defeat rejection, you have to know your identity in Christ. If you do not know who you are, then you will believe the lies of the devil. Without a firm identity in God, you will believe the lie that you are not good enough, that other people are better than you, that you are inferior, that you cannot make it, and that you are rejected. Only by knowing who you are in God and fully embracing your identity as a child of God will you be able to rise above rejection. Rejection is not your portion in Jesus’ name. God did not create you to live a secluded life feeling like you are inferior. He created you for a purpose and therefore you need to rise up and take up your position with boldness.

Jesus Christ Himself was rejected and therefore He understands you. When He came into this world, His own people did not accept Him. The world rejected Jesus.

He is despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Isaiah 53:3.

Victory over the spirit of rejection is only found in Jesus Christ. Only God can deliver you from the oppressive spirit of rejection. When Jesus Christ died on the cross, He broke every curse and overcame every form of evil. Jesus was rejected so that we might be accepted. In Christ Jesus, we are accepted.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. Ephesians 1:3–6.

In Christ Jesus, we have victory over the spirit of rejection. When you are in Christ Jesus, you become a child of God and are accepted in the royal heavenly family. Do not allow the devil to deceive you with lies. Overcome the deception of the enemy with the truth of the word of God.

Blessings.
