The Wisdom Of The World Is Foolishness With God

Growing up, many people did not receive life’s direction based on the Word of God. Many people grow up being told by the world what to do and what to say. Too many people have conformed to the patterns of the world, and this started in childhood. When a child is born, they do not know anything about the world. As the children grow up, they start learning things by observing and listening to the people around them. What children learn greatly impacts their lives. Sadly, what many people end up learning is the wisdom of the world that leads to destruction.

The world has come up with its ways of doing things, and the ways of the world are usually contradictory to the Word of God.

What the world promotes eventually leads to death. Human beings are born with a sinful nature and have a natural propensity towards sin. If a person is not grounded in the Word of God, they will readily follow the world because the ways of the world are more popular and seem to be ‘fun’. Many people do not understand that the wisdom of the world is foolishness with God.

Peer pressure is a great influencer in the world. When worldly peers come together, the result is sin, and the fruits of the flesh manifest. The world encourages fornication as a way of maintaining a relationship, it encourages destructive behaviors like smoking and alcoholism in order for a person to fit in among their peers.

The world encourages taking vengeance on a person who has hurt you. It encourages partying, immorality, having multiple sexual partners, cohabitation as a way of testing out if people are compatible, it encourages gossip, backbiting and slander, lies, manipulation, and many other sins. The wisdom of the world is foolishness with God.

If you ask for advice from a person of the world, most likely you will receive destructive worldly wisdom.

The world encourages tit for tat, it encourages doing unto others what they have done to you, it encourages selfishness, it encourages unforgiveness and holding grudges, it encourages trying to get even with a person who may have offended you; these are things that go against the Word of God.

But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you. To him who strikes you on one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back. And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise. Luke 6:27–31.

The world has labeled sin as ‘having fun’, as ‘pleasure’, as ‘enjoying life’.

When a person of the world meets another person who is not having fun according to their definition, they will start telling that person to ‘lighten up’. Usually, to lighten up involves engaging in sinful acts. They will tell you that life is short and that you should enjoy it as much as possible.

The word sin usually does not come up in conversations among the people of the world. The concept of sin does not seem to exist to them. As a result, people are engaging in all sorts of sins, and when someone points out that what they are doing is actually sinful, those people will look at that person as if that person is weird or even ‘crazy’. Nowadays people who speak the unadulterated Word of God are being called ‘crazy’ or ‘mad’. Remember, the wisdom of the world is foolishness with God.

When a person accepts Jesus Christ and makes major changes in their life in obedience to God, people may start saying that the person has gone ‘mad’ or that there is something ‘off’ about that person. It seems when a person stops following the ways of the world, it makes the people around that person very uncomfortable, and because of that, people start giving that person so many negative labels.

If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. John 15:18–19.

When a person of the world is offended, they usually turn abusive and also try to destroy the image of the person who has offended them.

Many people of the world have mastered throwing abuses towards other people. It seems like those people who abuse others get some sort of satisfaction from that. Instead of making peace after an offense has occurred, the world seems to enjoy degrading the other person.

Pride, arrogance, and haughtiness are rampant in the world. The love of money and what money can buy is what drives many people in the world. There are people who will do anything, including killing another person, in order to accumulate worldly riches. The wisdom of the world is foolishness with God.

Polygamy is being promoted in the world, especially when a person has the money to lure many partners. It seems many people have made marriage disposable, divorces and remarriages are happening right, left, and center. The world promotes the concept of ‘open marriage’, and adultery seems to be the order of the day.

Homosexuality has now been branded as ‘normal’, and the world encourages people to be proud of their unnatural and sinful sexual orientations. Seeking fame and recognition is driving many people especially in this age of social media. Show-off is rampant; people nowadays are competing showing off their lifestyles, their children, their spouses, showing off their bodies.

Humility is lacking in the world. The world is indeed deceived and lost.

There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. Proverbs 14:12.

Do not follow the wisdom of the world. Be very careful who you seek advice from, otherwise, you may end up being given advice that will lead you down the wrong path. The world really has nothing to offer. Things and ways of the world may seem pleasurable for a moment but the end is destruction and eternity in hell. Do not admire those who prosper in their sinful ways, their end is near if they do not repent.

Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Psalm 37:1–2.

Follow Jesus Christ and walk along the narrow gate and straight way that leads to eternal life. True wisdom comes only from God; the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10.

When you start walking in true wisdom, then your ways will be totally different from the ways of the world, you will begin to move against the currents of the world.

People may call you ‘weird’, or ‘crazy’, or ‘mad’, and many other names, but if they are calling you those names because of your love for God, rejoice and continue standing firmly on the truth of the Word of God. Do not be moved by what people are saying. If you know that your life is rooted in the Truth, then what the world says really does not matter. Fix your eyes on Christ Jesus, the author, and finisher of our faith. When you become a doer of the Word of God, then you become truly wise.

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. James 3:13–18.
