When focusing on homosexuality Gods word in Genesis 1:27 and 2:22–24. God did not ordain for a man and man to be in a marriage. Homosexuality goes against what God has established. God ordained for man and woman for marriage according to Genesis 2:24–25 and Proverbs 18:22. Homosexuality is an abomination unto God and is considered a sin according to Leviticus 20:13 which says, “If a man also lieth with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death: their blood shall be upon them.” Leviticus 18:22 says, thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: It is abomination. (KJV)” In view of today homosexuality is broad and popular in our modern-day world. People from all cultures are testing and sampling homosexuality. Homosexuality should not be a shock in our modern-day times. This act and behavior has happened in the bible days of the old testament to now. Ecclesiastes 1:9–10, speaks on how there is nothing new under the sun.

The history of started in the Old testament in the book of Genesis chapter 19. That speaks of the story of Sodom and Gomorrah and its surrounding cities. The city of Sodom and Gomorrah in “indulged in sexual immortality and pursued unnatural desires. (Homosexuality)” Leviticus chapters 18 & 20 also speak on behaviors of homosexuality.

When looking at homosexuality it appears through history that it is a learned behavior and language that has been formed over decades. That language and behavior has been taught through observation and was made a way of modern day socialization. Some researchers would profess that homosexuality was a cultural relative. The term homosexuality is not foreign to people in the modern world today. It is defined as, an interest and attraction to the opposite sex, example is male and male and female and female. Homosexuality has spread rapidly in the churches, and that is a major concern. However, when looking at this label of homosexuality the focus and view are where does the root of homosexuality come from? When thinking of homosexuality, the reflection of a perverse spirit comes to mind. A perverse spirit is the perverting or twisting of something good that is motivated by a perverse spirit. The roots of a perverse spirit may come from, broken spirit, childhood trauma as, child abuse, rape, molestation, incest, pornography, sexual perversion and doctrinal error can be a root to homosexuality. “When people insist on doing the unnatural, God steps back, and a reprobate mind moves in. (Strongman, pg.65)” Making a person perverted in their thought process. Which allows that person to think or believe everything is alright with how their lifestyle is and how it has become.

Homosexuality is also known as a deviant act that is informal because of social norms. Matthew 15:18 says, “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.” (KJV) Romans 1:24–27 says, “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.” (KJV) People will claim that they are born homosexuals and have been that way since they were a child. There is no fact or study that has been proven that people are born homosexual. Nor that homosexuality is genetic and or strongly imbedded in a person DNA trait. Perhaps homosexuality is a personal choice that people decide to love. Besides looking at homosexuality from a biblical view on homosexuality. There seem to be more factors and causes of homosexuality in our modern-day history. Could the factors of homosexuality be that both parents are not present in the home environment due to the social economic and the major need for work; that would lead to this behavior? Or could it be that both parents are present, and the parent is abusive due to their past and current struggles that occur that show maltreatment, and battering that may cause a child to lack the proper nurturing and emotional stimulation and support from the parent? Especially the mother, if the mother is abusive or not present that would make a female look for love and stability in another female. Which could make one decide to become a homosexual. Or is homosexuality formed from being emotional damaged which can lead to a child to grow up and be unstable in all their ways and in every area of their life. Or does guilt play a factor in in this realm of homosexuality?

Is homosexuality necessary for confrontation in the churches today or should we be quite and comprise with the actions and behaviors? Is it believed that “Bible- believing church people dare not be the biggest obstacles to protecting children from abuse. (Grunlan, pg. 182.)” What triggers this writer is the doctrine that is being taught when attending an affirming Christian denomination churches and in public schools. Is the doctrine that is taught in the church condoning homosexuality not being a sin; and having members participate in service of worship and preaching? John 4:24 speaks on worshipping God in Spirt and in truth. And clearly of not teaching another doctrine 1 Timothy 1:3, teaches no other doctrine should be taught other than the gospel.

How do we approach and show love and compassion in our churches today to a confused gender in our local churches and how do believers take time to build relationship and seek the need of homosexuality? Through biblical scripture 1 Corinthians 6:9 is a good approach when dealing with homosexuality. We understand people will argue with the old testament of Leviticus. Romans 4 will be a great approach to silence and break down some walls of homosexuality. We will be able to include the trajectory from the old testament to the new testament. Christians should respond and take the approach of homosexuality in the church by, not hating the person but hating the sin of homosexuality. Believers as humanity should look at all humanity is sinful and loved at the same time. That means we are loved unconditionally by God and our sin demands true repentance through Christ Jesus who is Lord over everyone’s life. Christians should speak up more on the issue and not be silent about but still operating in the love of Christ when dealing with this matter of homosexuality. Believers could encourage people who are trapped in this label of homosexuality that they are made in the true imagine of God. Also, allowing the person to understand that sex is to produce children which require only a male and a female. Not a male and male and a female and female. Allowing that person who walks in homosexuality that a child has the right to a mother and a father not a female and female, nor male or male. Christians should be able to teach through the perspective that God’s word is not to be rewritten and homosexuality is forbidden in the word of God, which can cause condemnation and entering the kingdom of heaven if repentance is not taken seriously. Another approach that a Christian could take is explaining that people are more of value and not their sexually. There are times that call for Christian believers to just be the salt and invest time shared with the unbeliever or a back-slide believer that is trapped in homosexuality. And, allow our lives to shine as examples by the way we live without being judgmental. Prayful thanking God for that persons who is trapped in homosexuality by being and remains prayful of there salvation would really help. Allowing a person to talk about their addiction is also necessary especially, when on has hidden their sin due to fear. It is important and necessary for exposure in a person’s life who is trapped in sin. We are taught through God’s word to confess our sins to one another that we may be brought out of our darkness. Sometimes believer think that they must always take someone to a building meaning the church for them to be saved when that is not always the case. Mature believers learn that their bodies are the church and we come to a building to worship Christ. There are times when street ministry is needed because a person may not feel comfortable to attend a church home meaning the building. Or they may feel they are not adequately fit to attend. Hopeful this has helped with the understanding of what homosexuality is and the history of where it delegated from and how believers in Christ can benefit from approaches when dealing with homosexuality and remain approach with love how Christ did with all humanity in the biblical scriptures.
