If I Were the Devil: The Enemy’s Game Plan

Lesson 11 | Porn is harmless!

If I Were the Devil

I’d remind you guys to clear your internet history often! No sense letting an embarrassing little mishap get in the way of your private fun. And girls who are dating or married to these guys, just remember… If you don’t concern yourself with this, he won’t have to lie to you!

But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart (Matthew 5:28, NASB).

But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death (James 1:14–15, NASB).

If porn isn’t a big deal, then why do people feel the need to hide it?

This simple act of covering it up from others is all one needs to know in order to confirm that porn has diabolical consequences. There is no ambiguity concerning Scripture. The words came straight from the lips of Jesus. As far as He is concerned, viewing women with sexual desire is tantamount to a full-on affair.

Men would like to think that if they are only looking, they aren’t doing anything wrong. Most believe porn is certainly better than an actual affair. This might be the logic of man, but it does not hold up to the standard of Scripture.

A 2014 study indicated that over two-thirds of American men engage with porn at least once a month. The same study revealed that over 40% of Christian men do so, as well. Tens of billions of dollars are spent globally every year on pornography, and pornography is directly linked to the even larger issue of human sex trafficking.

This issue likely hits close to home. Men and women alike need to determine to combat this ever-present temptation together. If not, relationships and families will continue to be sacrificed in order to feed this practice. If this is something you are privately struggling with, and want to get past, please reach out to me individually. There are several valuable resources that can lead people out of pornography habits.
