If I Were the Devil: The Enemy’s Game Plan

Lesson 4: You Only Live Once… Live it up!

If I Were the Devil…

I would convince you that this one life is the extent of your existence.

YOLO!

There is no such thing as an after-life. This one, finite life is all you or anyone else gets. Don’t let petty things like rules, responsibilities or virtue stop you from milking everything you can out of this one, short life. Fulfill every desire. Heed every impulse. Remember, this life is all you get. Answer to no one. No regrets!

Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. (Daniel 12:2, NIV).

One of the most common notions in all of Scripture is the persistent notion that life extends beyond the grave of this initial earthly life.

Yet another theme sown throughout the Bible is the notion that this life we live on earth will directly impact our eternal life. This can be good news for some and bad news for others, to which the prophet Daniel alludes.

Unlike concepts of reincarnation presented in Far-eastern faith, Christianity preaches an after-life that is different from this first, temporal life. We will not simply cycle back into the world based on a previous life. Rather, this one life results in our eternal destiny concerning an unending eternal existence in an imperishable new body and an all together new world.

Our faith or lack thereof practiced in this earthly life will directly impact our eternal destination. Though this notion will be cultivated further in devotionals to come, receive this singular truth for now:

This one earthly life you are currently living is far from conclusive. And, the decisions you make now will most certainly echo in eternity.
