Keep Talking to Council
This is what democracy looks like.
After three weeks of civil protest downtown, a number of demands have been made in response to the murder of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor at the hands of police. The Urban County Council spent the day Tuesday listening to government officials discuss the laws, statutes, and guidelines relevant to police accountability and brutality followed by hours of public comment.
I am grateful for the dozens of people who spoke, the hundreds of people who listened, and the thousands of people who have marched for justice over these past weeks.
Council will hold another public session on Wednesday, June 17 at 5PM. Please listen and participate. Beyond the proposals I made, I look forward to hearing additional improvements that will come from my neighbors as we strive to create a welcoming and equitable community.
