What To Do When Your Creative Brain Says No, And Why It Happened To Me.

A Lesson On How I Got Into A Deadlock Creatively Speaking.

I know it now, and maybe you have known it. But at some point, when you have too much interesting stuff to do (In my case composing music and writing), you can end up in what I call “A creative Deadlock”!

Sounds fancy right? Well, it’s not either fancy or fun. I feel like a chicken trying to pick which seed to eat next. And can’t decide.

Three Things

There are three things that I have tried;

1. Time-blocking

1. Planned time for each activity.

1. Letting it all happen in its own time.

Let’s break it down as to why it didn’t work.

Time-blocking: To be honest, what do I have to block? I have one meeting every day between 3:30 and 5:00 p.m., and that’s creative hour. Yes, This month, I have a couple of doctor's appointments prior to my DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation) beginning of October. But Besides that, nothing. (I don’t plan my life with my family on a calendar.)

Planned time for each activity: If you have a creative brain like mine, it doesn’t play with being controlled. It will revolt and…
