I don’t like the way (some) men look at me

On being a piece of meat

It happens in New Orleans during Mardi Gras.

It happens in Kuala Lumpur on the side of a freeway.

It happens in New York by the Empire State Building

Men look at women like they’re pieces of meat.

Sometimes it doesn’t matter what you’re wearing or if you make eye contact. Sometimes you don’t even have makeup on. Sometimes it comes with inappropriate words, or even worse, sounds.

What makes you think you can look at us like that? Who taught you that’s ok? Who warranted this kind of behaviour?

It’s not even that it makes us feel uncomfortable, sometimes it’s just downright disgusting.

So I’ll say this to all the men out there who don’t do this:

Teach your sons to do the same.

Teach your friends.

Teach your father.

Thanks.

This is post #13 of my 30 day writing challenge. Keep up with it here.
