NOW SEEKING SUBMISSIONS!

Have you experienced something absurd while trying to survive this planet? Perhaps found yourself working a job you never thought you would? Lost your housing and ambled into a weird outdoor lifestyle? Climbed the corporate ladder and found a strange reality to reckon? Maybe you keep wondering how you ended up with all those housemates, anyway?

At Chronicles of Absurdity, we recognize that the world is a very strange place. It can take a lot to survive it. We welcome reflective essays on true accounts of absurdity. In short, we want to read your story!

Guidelines for Submission

Content: Creative nonfiction, personal essay, photo essay, memoir, brief vignettes, poetry— all are welcome — it just needs to be a true story of a real life experience. The goal is to capture the essence of how strange and difficult it is to live on the earth in the modern era. This can include reflection on identity, demographics, socio-economic experience, social justice, relationships, society — it’s a complicated world. The Chronicles of Absurdity are a sociological and artistic exploration.

Length: Short (up to 1,000 words) and medium length (up to 2,000 words) submissions are welcome. Essays/works more than 2,000 words can also be submitted, but it will take longer for me to review them.

Format: Please format and cite properly. Text should follow the format below. Photos should have proper credits and can be included in the flow of the work at your discretion. If you need to cite sources, they can be cited in your preferred method, just let me know which method you are using.

Policy on AI writing: We do not accept AI written pieces. As editors, we reserve the right to reject a piece if we suspect it was written with AI. However, if you use AI for research, please cite properly: Include the AI platform you used and the date you retrieved the information. Treat AI as if it were an interview subject and quote accordingly.
