Trump as King Cyrus
Trying to convince Christians that they are hypocrites for supporting a flagrant serial adulterer, an ignorant liar, and a conman grifter in Donald Trump is a genuinely hopeless task. One might say that Trump’s Christian supporters have been vaccinated against the obvious contradiction by a theological loophole.
Trump is not a good Christian, nor need he be. Trump is, instead, an instrument of God. God has sent Trump to free American Christians from oppression just as God sent Cyrus the Great to free the Jews from Babylonian captivity.

Don’t worry. Once you understand the background, it makes even less sense.
King Cyrus the Who?
Cyrus lived from 600 to 530 BC and founded the Achaemenid Empire, which was the first Persian Empire. Below is a map showing its extent prior to the invasion of the Neo-Babylonian Empire. Cyrus’s invasion of Neo-Babylonia is really the only reason he is of interest to Christians.
